Reconomy - Zero Labels 2 Landfill and Zero Foil 2 Landfill Latest – Reconomy add Glassine Recycling Route
Reconomy are proud to welcome their latest converter to join the scheme, School Stickers, based in Redditch. Certification will be issued later this month, once the first load has been collected, shredded, and treated. All waste will be 100% utilized in UK blast furnaces for cement production, directly replacing fossil fuels, and ensuring 100% diversion from landfill.
Reconomy have also successfully engaged with a recycler within their network to process glassine backing papers, which are currently landfilled or incinerated through general waste collections. As you may know, glassine papers are not recyclable through the usual wastepaper and board routes due to the silicone coating.
Previous, recycling routes from the UK were possible via material export of large volumes to only 2 European paper mills. Reconomy have now developed a service that enables the segregated collection of small volumes and recycling in the UK. This enables them to collect not only from printers, but end-users as well, and can work with scheme members to offer this service to their customers, helping to strengthen the relationships within their portfolio.
