To compliment the service offered to converter members, we also operate a scheme to end-users entitled Glassine 2 Recycling.
There are no facilities in the UK capable of recycling siliconized papers, which basically involves delivery to a capable paper mill and re-pulping into reusable paper. This means the material is either landfilled or incinerated through the usual general waste collection routes. The only 2 mills that have this capability are in Austria and Germany.
Due to the new complexities around the Brexit regulations, we act as the exporter on behalf of our clients and manage the entire process, from collection arrangements to export paperwork requirements.
With retail and consumer focus firmly fixed on the damaging environmental effects of waste, promoting environmental credibility of brands is high on the agenda, and converters are seeing the added value of offering this service to their customers.
